Household Goods Moving Counting Down for International Move

EIGHT WEEKS BEFORE THE MOVE
   □ Choose your mover
   □ Check export/import regulation for your move
   □ Check and ensure your passport is valid
   □ Start to apply for necessary visa
   □ Check export/import regulation for pets
   □ Check that electrical goods will work in the country of your
     destination
SIX WEEKS BEFORE THE MOVE
   □ Sort through basement, garage, loft, dispose of unwanted goods
   □ Organization a ‘garage sale’
   □ Arrange for transfer of school records
   □ Transfer personal insurance records
   □ Get bank account available in destination
FOUR WEEKS BEFORE THE MOVE
   □ Confirm the packing date with CEMovers
   □ Notify everyone of your change of address: post office, your
     solicitor, bank, credit card company, doctor, dentist, insurance
     company, schools, building society and relevant government bodies
   □ Arrange for mail to be forwarded
   □ Make your travel reservations for the trip
   □ Prepare insurance valuation
   □ Have rugs cleaned
TWO WEEKS BEFORE THE MOVE
   □ Round up passports, birth/marriage certificates and other family
     documents
   □ Decide which clothes travel with you
   □ Return or retrieve any items on loan
   □ Fulfill outstanding HR agreements
   □ Complete outstanding credit agreements
   □ Cancel all rental agreement
   □ Cancel subscriptions to clubs and magazine
   □ Collect travel cheque or local currency
   □ Start running down stock of food and drink
   □ Ask for final account from electrical, water and gas company
   □ Obtain invoices for new purchases (for import customs formalities)
   □ Organization storage
ONE WEEK BEFORE THE MOVE
   □ Defrost refrigerator/freezer
   □ Get rid of flammables(paint, gasoline), plants and any perishable food
   □ Plan simple meals for moving day to avoid using appliances
   □ Separate luggage items you need for your travel
   □ Separate toys for your children during traveling
   □ Ensure you have enough medication before you receive your goods
   □ Finish packing all suitcases
   □ Clean garden tools, bicycles and other garden equipment
   □ Empty mower tanks
   □ Arrange for mains services to be disconnected.
   □ Arrange for someone to look after your children and pets on moving
     day
   □ Obtain address of mover’s agent at destination
   □ Advise your newsagent and milkman and pay their accounts
   □ Empty lockers at school and work
   □ Clean out and close your bank safety deposit box
   □ Collect clothes from dry clean
   □ Collect items in repair shop
   □ Get all required customs paperwork ready for CEMovers
ONE DAY BEFORE THE MOVE
   □ Disconnect, clean and dry refrigerator/freezer and other electrical
     appliances
   □ Arrange with neighbors to leave sufficient packing space for the
     moving vehicle
   □ Safekeep keys to trunks, cases, etc…
   □ Ensure that all these documents are with you: passport, air tickets,
     vaccination certificates, cash, jewellery, clothing & toys, driving
     license, marriage certificate, dental records, medical records, bank
     references, tenancy references, old utility bills and necessary
     receipts, insurance details.


ON MOVING DAY
   □ Arrange someone to look after your children and pets
   □ Remain present during packing
   □ Walk through your house with CEMovers packing supervisor and point out
     requests and concerns
   □ Confirm your destination contact details & delivery date with CEMovers
   □ After packing, CEMovers' supervisor will ask you to complete a ‘Job
     Evaluation Report’.
   □ Check all rooms, cupboards and walls to make sure nothings is left
     behind before packing crew leaves
   □ Turn off water and lights, lock windows and doors
   □ Check and sign the packing list
   □ Hand over all customs documents to CEMovers
   □ If at all possible, try not to arrange travel overseas on the same day
     as the move as it will tend to add to the stress involved
UPON YOUR ARRIVAL IN DESTINATION
   □ Build up contact with CEMovers destination mover to facility all
     necessary customs paperwork
   □ Confirm delivery date/time and delivery address/access
ON THE DAY OF DELIVERY
   □ Arrange someone to look after your children and pets
   □ Remain present during delivery
   □ Walk through your house with foreman of delivery crew and give him
     the plan of furniture placing plan
   □ Confirm all packages received
   □ Check if there is any obvious damages when goods unloaded from
            truck/container

   □ Sign on the packing list for receipt of goods
