Boxes
Planning your move will make your tasks appear large before you even begin to do them. Any way that you wish to stack it, it’s going to take a lot of time and energy to get everything done. So why not start at the first part; the packing? Some quick packing tips are just what you need to get started with planning out a move. The first step is to take each room of your home apart and decide best how to pack them up.
For starters, there are bedrooms. One common tip is to empty all the dresser drawers and desk drawers. This makes the dresser lighter when you go to move it. You can put the clothing from the dressers in boxes or even in clean trash bags if you do not have a surplus of boxes to work with. For blankets and other bed cloth, you can pack them the same way as clothes or even use some of those softer materials to line boxes for your more breakable items.
Your bathroom is going to be a little different. If you keep medicine in the bathroom, you will want to make sure it is packed separately from all your other bathroom items for health and sanitary reasons. Used soap and other things that may become contaminated or make a mess are best thrown away. If you have many members of your family that share bathrooms, smaller containers are best used for packing belongings such as tooth brushes, shaving razors, and other personal hygiene items.
Your kitchen should be where you will really want to focus more so than any other area of the house. Perishable foods should be disposed of if you are not able to eat them before your move. Food should always be packed separately from other items, especially if you keep chemicals in your kitchen like laundry detergent. Plates, glasses, and other breakables should be wrapped and stuffed with newspaper and then placed carefully in a good box with proper lining. Also, do not simply stack your dishes together. Make sure that you separate them with soft liners like bubble wrap, or even those blankets mentioned earlier will do the trick as well.
Knowing how to pack each room of the house can really make a difference in your move. One final tip that can be given is to label all your containers. When you unpack your things, read the labels and you can quickly take each box to which room it is destined for. This also helps greatly in case there is an item you may need immediately or have accidentally packed away. |
